Resume

 

Proud and happy to look back at more than 40 years of experience in polar research, nature conservation, ecosystem research and monitoring, capture fisheries and aquaculture sciences, and science management. Hands-on experience from working at the science-policy interface and advice for management. Activities included organizing science conferences, chairing technical meetings, project and personal management. Present and past member of various advisory bodies of research institutes and projects, invited speaker to numerous international conferences and high-level governmental meetings. Published more than 50 mostly peer-reviewed journal publications, book chapters, as well as popular articles.

 

In October 2009, my international contributions in support of tidal flat conservation and sustainable fisheries were recognised when I received the Korean Tidal Flat Conservation Award. In March 2016, together with my team in the ICES Science Programme, I was awarded the 2015 Copenhagen Congress and Event Award for the best conference in the category up to thousand participants. Member of the World Cultural Council (WCC) since 1996.

 

Today my time is devoted to voluntary work and my family. Honorary appointments include chairing the local section of the University-society of the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel and the local museum club in my hometown Friedrichstadt.
